Popularity

Do you think I speak this strongly in order to manipulate crowds? Or curry favour with God? Or get popular applause? If my goal was popularity, I wouldn’t bother being Christ’s slave. Know this—I am most emphatic here, friends—this great Message I delivered to you is not mere human optimism. I didn’t receive it through the traditions, and I wasn’t taught it in some school. I got it straight from God, received the Message directly from Jesus Christ.

Galatians 1:10 MSG

We all crave attention by others. But seeking validation by others will set us on the wrong path. Opinion will change and then we might find ourselves on the outside looking in. Popularity will not make us happy. Popularity is not a god to worship.
Look to Jesus as your model and you will see someone who knew who to worship. He knew who to worship even when that cost him his life.
We are not here to make a name for ourselves, we are here to make a name for God. Allow God to define you and you will be free indeed.

Don’t shine so that others can see you. Shine so that through you, others can see HIM.

C. S. Lewis

Shine through me today that I might show others your love.
Help me to seek you in all I do and not to seek importance for myself.
I love you Lord, Amen

It was the very busiest road in Palestine, on which the publican Levi Matthew sat at the receipt of "custom," when our Lord called him to the fellowship of the Gospel, and he then made that great feast to which he invited his fellow-publicans, that they[...]
